James Comey court appearance
The former director has asserted his non-guilt about the indictments

Ex- Federal Bureau of Investigation head James the former director has denied the charges to making false statements to US legislators and hindering a lawmaking procedure.

The former director's attorney filed the plea representing him in a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia on mid-week.

The defense lawyer announced he would try to have the legal matter dismissed for various factors including that his client, a critic of President Donald Trump, was being singled out.

The former director was indicted shortly after the former president pushed his attorney general to take action against him.

Legal Proceedings

At the proceedings on mid-week, Comey's lawyer the legal representative told the magistrate they intended to present various petitions to throw out the proceedings before a trial, arguing the prosecution was spiteful and that a US attorney was unlawfully designated to take over the proceedings.

James Comey's legal matter was initially managed by Erik Siebert, who stepped down under pressure from Donald Trump after his examination into another political adversary - the New York official - did not succeed to file indictments.

Judicial Environment

James Comey came across in good spirits as he entered the courtroom on mid-week, chatting with his legal team and making jokes. He was accompanied by his spouse, his wife and child Maureen Comey, a US lawyer who the former government terminated.

Following the reading to the magistrate read his rights and the pair of allegations against him in legal proceedings on mid-week, Mr Comey was asked if he understood the charges.

"I do your honour. Thank you," he told the proceedings.

Historical Information

James Comey was the head of the FBI from four years and was dismissed about a few months into Trump's first administration as national leader. At the moment, the director was directing an investigation into international campaign influence and whether there were any connections between Russia and the election effort.

While in office, the director sparked a counter-response from Democrats when he stated just immediately preceding the national vote that he was investigating political contender the candidate's use of a personal email system. Charges against Hillary Clinton were not filed, leading to negative feedback from the Republican party as well.

Current Allegations

Government attorneys allege Mr Comey lied to Congress during a congressional hearing in recent years when he was being examined about both the email probe as well as the Russia election probe. They allege he deceived the Senate by stating he had not authorized an individual at the Federal Bureau of Investigation to leak to journalistic entities information about the government examinations.

Legal representatives also allege the defendant of "improperly attempting to affect, block and impede" the legislative group by giving misleading testimony to it.

Personal Comments

In a video the former director posted to his online platform after he was accused, he stated he was wrongly accused and accused Trump of conducting himself like a "autocrat".

"We have been aware for a long time that there are consequences to challenging Donald Trump," he commented. "We choose not to live on our knees."
"I am not guilty," he continued. "So let's have a court case."

These allegations against the former director surfaced after Donald Trump shared on social media calling for his attorney general, Ms Bondi, take legal action against James Comey and additional individuals.
