Chopper Spirals Wildly into Palm Fronds at Well-Known Southern California Beach
A helicopter soaring over a popular southern California beach suddenly began spiraling uncontrollably, finally descending rapidly and smashing into a line of palm fronds as onlookers looked on.
Recordings uploaded online show the helicopter starting to spin above the beach then falling in the direction of the perimeter of the beach, where it gets stuck amidst palm trees and a staircase close to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Details
Local firefighters said five people were taken to hospital including two who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” following the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the street were harmed. Details on their injuries were still under review.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation.

Officials said the chopper was linked to an annual “Cars N Copters” fundraising event scheduled for Sunday.
